Arma is a small Crawford County city of about 1,400 residents (2020 census), just north of Frontenac. It began in 1894 as a coal camp, was a station on the Missouri Pacific Railroad, and was named for early landowner W.F. Armacost. Arma is known for its V-J Day homecoming, held each year since 1946, and for the veterans memorial in City Park. The Frontier Military Historic Byway runs through town.
